Item Insurance
For 600 gold (per each item you wish to insure), your equipment can be insured against death. When you die, all of your insured items remain with your ghost (like blessed items). When you return to life, your insured items will return with you. Each time you die, you will need to renew the insurance on your items (unless you have Auto-Reinsurance enabled, see below). Stackable items will not be able to be insured. You do not need to insure blessed items. The cost of insuring your items is taken out of your bank account the moment you choose the option to insure an item.
To insure items, open the Context Sensitive Menu (single left-click by default) on your avatar and click Toggle Item Insurance, then target the piece of gear you wish to insure. Once insured, that piece of gear will say "insured" in it's description.
Auto Reinsurance
Players also have the option of auto-reinsuring their items upon death so that you don't have to reinsure each item when you die. With auto-reinsurance, any item that you had previously insured will be reinsured upon resurrection (assuming you have the funds). It's important to note that when your items are auto-reinsured, gold is taken out of your bank account upon death. This is because when you die, the auto-reinsurance system kicks in and reinsures your items.
To enable auto-reinsurance, open the Context Sensitive Menu (single left-click by default) on your avatar and click Auto Renew Inventory Insurance.
STAFF TIPS: We recommend that you insure your items and enable the auto-renew on insurance, since the alternative can lead to so much frustration (you cannot get back to your corpse, or your corpse cannot be retrieved). Also make sure you have loose gold in your bank box to cover both the initial insurance and any renewing insurance.
See you on the shard!
