Before owning these I had previously noticed that my pets seemed to run slower when I was on foot. They certainly followed slower and seemed generally a bit slower doing everything though that last part could be subjective.

Now that I have the Wind Riders this is of course very much more obvious. When wearing them the game should get a flag that says you are mounted, if possible. Otherwise as a tamer you definitely loose something when wearing this very nice footwear. It is not easy to loose your pets when running mounted, though I guess it can be done (I have not had it happen I think, not without a zone change). I can lose my pets quite easily with the Wind RIders so I am constantly slowing down to "wait up" for them.

Hehe, just because you have windriders on and can go faster, doesn't mean that the pet is also wearing them and going faster

And FYI, pet follower speed was increased several years ago to be closer to the players walking/running speed.

Pet following is better when they are commanded "all follow me". If they are in guard mode, their following isn't as quick for some reason.

I can't outrun most pets when they're in follow mode. Some are a tad slow but most stick right with me or at least "rubberband" to my position every few seconds.

Ya but Ghost, that is saying the same as "just because you are mounted and going faster, doesn't mean your pets are mounted and going faster"; but they DO go faster when I am mounted. I probably didn't say it very well but the entire idea is that pets keep right up with me when mounted and going full speed, whether I used "All Guard" or "All Follow Me". They may rubber band but they keep right up with me. If they can keep up when I'm mounted, then they should be able to keep up with me when I run as fast as if I'm mounted. Fairly logical I think.

So if pet follower speed was increased to be closer to players walk/run speeds then I wonder how they can possibly keep up with me when I'm mounted... without a doubt they do run much faster when I am mounted/running. I'll go ahead and try All Follow to see if that helps, as Yordor suggested. Thanks.
