Sry, not sure where this goes exactly. Would like a rant but no need for that and it's not a bug.

Not long ago I discovered that I runic toolkits had some value and I liked using them. Dyerseve and I must have done about 15 platinum elementals and I think we got 4 plat runic toolkits and the rest were plat runic smithy hammers. Fair enough, I died a lot and lost tons of fame but it was worth it. That was 2 weeks ago at least, maybe 3 or 4.

The other day I got Damien to help me do some more and we got two runic toolkits compared to maybe 10 or more runic smithy hammers. The odds for a toolkit seemed to be lower. Today I did the lower level agapite, verite and valorite elementals solo. After 14 elementals, I have ZERO runic toolkits. I got all smithy hammers. I know something about statistics and that is near impossible to chalk up to just bad luck.[Edit: For clarity; I did not mean bad luck as in +Luck items here but more like flipping a coin and getting heads 14 times in a row] I can understand if it is intentional to give fewer toolkits than hammers but this goes beyond that I think. On the surface it seems as if anything lower than Platinum is rare.

Can you folks (staff) tinker (pun intended) with drop rates? I'm curious as to why things seem so skewed.

Quentin, I can tell you that the drop rates were not touched. Drop are based on randomness and luck.

Ok, well luck would be the thing that makes the drop rate intentional. I just don't know if my 150 luck shield and maybe some other luck stuff I have on is actually telling me that the hammers drop with higher luck or that Dyerseve actually had more luck gear than I have on. It didn't occur to me that one would be considered more lucky than the other but that could surely be the case. Thanks Ghost.

Hmmm. While out sampling for bio's I pimped myself out with lots and lots of luck and seemed to fail most of the time, breaking the vials. when i dropped the luck items down to about 1500 things appeared to go a little better. I don't know, but i sort of got an idea that there was a "sweet spot" when it came to luck.
Its probably all in my imagination though
