Please read my instructions in "Getting Started", step 3. Yes, you will get a crash report when you first start it. Follow my directions to get around that.

Hello,

I am switching to this shard due to the fact that my young son plays along with me and I feel this would be a good enviroment for him. Problem is, I have UO currently patched to 6.0.1.10 (Patch 72). I can not connect with OUC. I have tried to remove my UO client completely and download, and start the patch again, but it always starts at 6.something. I get an error when I click the "Play" button on the UOC. Is my patch level the issue? I have never used UOC before, always just Razar. Not sure if I am using UOC wrong or my patch is the issue. If it is my patch, any ideas on how to fix it?

Klako, thank you for considering Whispering Pines. We would love for you and your son to come and play with us.

I believe you are downloading a client version which is too new. Try one of the three links I provide in getting started, Step 1. They should start you out at version 4.11, then you can patch up to 5.0.6.c. Anything much beyond 5.0.6.c will either be problamatic, or flat out won't work.

Using ConnectUO will allow you to get the shard patch, and it works in conjunction with razor too.

See you on the shard,

Ok, I am getting very frustrated now. I have installed and uninstalled everything about 50 times on my new laptop. My home computer works fine but not the laptop. I have completed everything after the crash report but I still get the same error message mentioned below (HRESULT:0x8007000B). I have tried to use the fix located at the bottom of the page to download the .net software. The problem is that on that page it mentions nothing of Vista 64 bit. Can I just say that I hate Vista!. Anybody else get around this problem?
I am only frustrated because I like to sneek on at work.
Any help would be great.
Regards,
Val

Val, sorry to hear you are having issues. Unfortunately I don't have any tips for Vista, and definitely not Vista x64, other than to try and run the CUO .exe file as Administrator.

I believe this note about your error to be the crux of the problem:

This exception can occur when a .NET application running on a 64-bit platform attempts to load a DLL that does not support native 64-bit execution. If the application is built in platform-agnostic (i.e. "Any CPU") mode, it will launch in 64-bit mode on the host operating system, leading to this problem. To fix this, you can force the application to run in 32-bit mode by compiling for x86 architecture explicitly, forcing the program to launch in WoW64 mode on the 64-bit system, and allowing the 32-bit DLL to be accessed.

CUO wasn't compiled to be compatible with x64.

CUO2 will work with Vista x64, but it has not been released yet

See you on the shard,
