Thanks for the feedback guys - and I agree with Aust. I was using sarcasm to exemplify ways "noobs" are sometimes treated and using the example of America, or as Aust rightfully puts, my grandpa's America, as an example of a modern country that made an attempt at equality. I also agree it didn't get all that close - in fact sometimes I am ashamed of it. But the effort is to try for the ideal and make things better despite the current situation, including improving the way we treat each other.

I apologize if this got led too far in the wrong direction and look forward to being part of WP as long as y'all will have me. :D

Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own.

Thought I might just clear that little one up. That aside I can't believe this thread is still active (and would suggest it might be time to turn the key on it). It is unfortunate but this kinda thing happens all the time. People on the internet come from different backgrounds and ideals. They have differing opinions about how things should be and how they shouldn't.

I myself understand this full well having recently come from another shard where I was not only very well established as one of the shards top players but also an admin. That particular shard has taken on another admin that has very different ideas from my own and he has taken that shard in a direction that I am not happy with. Therefore, I am now here.

Perhaps the most painful thing going on here is a prolonging of the pain for Slickblade, seeing that the matter is still ongoing on this thread. Let it rest. If moving on is all that there is for you now then do it. There is nothing to be gained here in this forum. The door has been left open for you and you can come back if and when your ready thanks to Ghost's good graces. Perhaps you should take that as an encouraging sign and do whatever you feel is right until such time as you feel you can return.

zeigfried wrote:Hi again -

I personally am glad not all shard owners buy into this rationale because otherwise I'd not be playing UO. If you leave players run the shard you may attract more skilled players but typically these are the players who feel their say counts for more and things should be done their way because they are a better player and have been playing UO for a longer time. Like Slick was even saying in his discussion of "noobs" - they don't know as much - their opinion isn't worth as much - because they can't play as well as the veterans can. They should keep their opinions to themselves until they can push buttons faster and more precisely. There's even the suggestion of PvP as a way veteran's can show their superiority. .

Not exactly what I was getting at ) Not that Noobs opinions shouldn't matter as much but when a new member comes on and rags on an older player, it does create personal problems. I mean think about it, say I put 100+ days trying to develop this character you know, play few hours a day untill time adds up, as this time goes on you get more items that help you through you become more familiar with the shard, you can honestly say you're starting to get to know this place a lot better... then somebody joins 101 days after you and says that what you suggested is wrong and should not even be mensioned.. it is insulting..

A lot of things in life have ranks, not to insult but to show their status. New players regardless of how knowledgable they are to UO should respect those who are already on a shard as those players know a lot more on this particular shard. Veterans should not think of themselves as top players but as players who put in their time and should be respected properly, not praised or made idols, but give them their fair share of respect especially if you just joined.

I was born and raised in Russia but right now I do live in America and believe me it is not all they say it is... But this is way off topic so please leave it there

You are right Luke we play for different reasons, I was looking for a shard as close to PRC as I could find and this was it.. shard wise..

The doors for me are closed ) No account to return to. I wouldn't feel right here anymore

Hefartsalot -- sounds like you can relate the best here ) peace 8-)

Slick, It kinda sounds like you want to return but want a personal invitation to return playing...You care enough to browse the forums and comment on what people have to say but reticule the staff and shard.

We (staff) thank you all for your comments and concerns. On some points we will have to agree to disagree, and to drag this thread out further will only increase the tit for tat that is beginning to happen. What has been said has been said. It is now time to move on and do what we do best.....HAVE FUN!

SlickBlade, I wish you well in your journeys.
