Bow strings now break!

Bow Stringers

• Linen - very weak
• Cotton - weak
• Silk - sturdy
• Horse Hair - strong
• Hemp - dependable
• Angel Hair - unbreakable

Bows in WP will now wear out their strings! Along with the chance for a string to break is the chance for it to do bonus damage to your enemy. Better strings do more bonus damage and do so more frequently. The angel hair stringer will never break, but if you adventure with other strings you should carry a spare or two for in-field repairs.

To remove a stringer: use fletcher's scissors, target the bow.

To apply a stringer: double-click an un-strung bow, then target the stringer you wish to use.

Higher level stringers require more fletching skill to apply. Anyone can apply a linen stringer while Angel Hair stringers can be applied only by Legendary fletchers. A bow with no string cannot be equipped.

Stringers are crafted using the fletching tool.

Very nice job !

People should also know that making good stringers needs bowcraft/fletching, but also item identification, which is really a pain to raise ! ;o(
Any clue for that ?
Because crafting stringers & stringers & stringers just improve it by 0.1 point every 3 months...

Neid.

Strings of all types have been adjusted to last longer between breakages.

Well from the Looks of it the great Thunder Bow is not worth the trouble as it can't be repaired and paying 750k for an Angel Hair Stringer for it is even more pointless. So will be doing a lot of Elemental hunting to get kits and the wood to make a Yumi that won't be close to the power of the Thunder Bow but will have to do I guess. And keeping a Silk Stinger rdy in my backpack and 20 in my newly made Ranger/Tamer Keys (thx to a great guy Arkady) by the time I need 20+ more of the Silk Stringers I will be able to buy 500 of them for the price of the 750k AHS......

No "special" weapon can be repaired through traditional means. You must apply a Self Repair deed to keep it in shape. Those are purchased with tokens at the Donation Hall.

I've seen many Angel Hair stringers sold for under 100k gold. Keep shopping, or ask an experienced crafter to make one for you at a reasonable cost.

There is no one "best" weapon. They all have their strengths and weaknesses which is what makes UO such a dynamic game.

As a player, I was able to use the Fletcher's Scissors to remove a string off the Wyrm Crossbow, then I double clicked on the stringless crossbow and targeted a new stringer and it worked perfectly. Perhaps you did not first use the Fletcher's Scissors (purchased from a bowyer or fletcher).

As far as repair of the rest of the bow, Falkor is correct in the use of the self repair deeds to keep the bow healthy.

i know this is a old thread but i have a question. Can you hand your thunderwyrm bow to a 120 fletcher and have them apply the angel hair string to it?

Yes, others can re-string bows for you with no problem.

I think the durability needs to be reviewed on these. I've been using silk strings as that's all I can make at the moment and I'm getting terrible results. The first lasted 27 shots and my last one only lasted 3 shots. These are mid range strings even. I can't imagine what the bottom line stings are getting. 1 shot per?
