Shard Events in 2012

We have been doing events and not posting the results. The reasons are varied.

I have heard a lot of players recently complaining about the lack of events.

While it is true the events ran by staff on W.P. have dropped to an all-time low. It has been caused in part by the player’s reactions to events.

Staff is a living, breathing person, just like you.

When they do events they take not only their personal time but also their W.P. playing time to do something EXTRA to entertain the players of W.P.

What I have noticed A LOT is when events are done players tend to complain about the event. WHY? If you don’t like it don’t join. You are not forced to do so. The complaint discourages those that are trying to entertain you.

A suggestion: Got a better idea for an event. How about letting someone know? There is a forum topic for suggestions and ideas. (Not all ideas can be done due to program restrictions/game balancing etc.)Also what is keeping you from running an event yourself? I personally have given players reward items to give out at their player run events as well as a few players give their own hard earned winnings out at their own events.

I myself will attempt to start posting the events from this point on. I encourage all staff to do so.

And as always this is a game lets have some fun!! :D

On 7/3/12 I lit off a few fireworks as an early celebration for the 4th. Alas the ground was a bit dry and it started a fire. Poor Samantha and Gil did not manage to escape the fire. Their deaths were not totally in vain as they received a Reward Token at their funeral.

On 7/4/12 a chili event was held.

Being a holiday and many players focusing on real life families only a few where on hand, but that is ok, family first, the rest of us had some fun. Gil, Tenzin and Merchantmace came to the party hall to test who had the cast iron stomach. After a lot of fainting, farting and crying Gil was the last man standing. He got a coveted Reward Twiggy for his efforts and as a consolation prize Tenzin and Merchantmace had their names forever memorialized on the the Chili Event Memorial (for those that are unsure where this it, it is located on the roof of the Party Hall).

**A reminder: Many staff will be attempting to do events the week of the 4th in Honor of our countries independence. Storm has already decorated and set up two linked quests. These quest where requested to be returned by the players. I have set up a fireworks display that will run most of the day at Britain Bank.

On 7/7/12 we had a triple round of Chili eating. Merchantmace and Gil faced off in on one on one duel. Merchantmace started off a bit ruff within just a few bites he went down so hard death showed up! I don’t know if he sneaked in some Tums or what but after picking himself off the floor he managed to go bite for bit with Gil until Gil met death 2 x in a row!!

The Gross moment of the match was when both guys *puked* at the nearly the same time yuck – I’m not cleaning it up.

Since participation was a bit low I decided to ante up on the rewards and each player got a minor reward token for each death. Gill 2x and Merchant 1x and Merchantmace as the winner received a Random Reward Token.

Ps Gil got his name added to the Chili Event Memorial stone. Merchantmace has already gone done that road

**for those that are unaware “Ch’vayre’s Deadly Chili” Event is a simple game where all players gather around a bowl of specially spicy chili. Each player takes a turn taking a bite. This chili is so spicy it can cause players do all kinds of things. Eventually it always takes it toll on those that dare to taste it and ol mister Death shows up. Often the rules are simple and the last man/woman standing wins. However those that know me are aware sometimes I change the rules to “spice” it up. <- pun intended
