Welcome to WP!

You'll arrive in WP at the Class Gates. This is where you'll choose the mage, warrior, ranger/tamer, or crafter gate that will set the appropriate skills to 100 and the remaining skills to 70. You can choose the red "no bonuses" gate to start with just the skills you chose when creating the character.

Brit Bank

After choosing a gate you'll arrive at the bank in Britain. You can speak in public by typing [c followed by your message, and you can take a tour of the shard's custom areas by typing [tour at any point. Don't worry - you'll be returned to where you started the tour when it's finished. In your pack you will find a "trash for tokens" bag that will reward you with tokens when you trash items you don't want. There is also a token ledger; keep this in the main pack where it can't be lost on death (it's blessed) and it will hold the tokens you're awarded during your adventures.

The Basics

Skills are unlimited here so you can train any and all as high as you like -- once you get the powerscrolls to go over 100 anyway. There are swords and bashing weapons, or a nice selection of bows for ranged attacks. Note that bow strings break here so you'll want to upgrade yours as soon as possible. NPCs sell mid-level stringers and players can create stronger (or unbreakable) versions.

[c - speak in public
[mail - opens your private messages
[pm namehere - starts a private message to the name you specified
[claim or [grab - use this command after looting your enemy to delete its corpse and give you extra gold & tokens.

Training Area

Your first stop should be the Training Area. To get there, use a travel gate and choose Custom Destinations > Training Area. Here you can fight training twiggies that do no damage to you but help you gain skills as high as you can go. Free weapons are provided for every combat type that offer fast skill gain but are useless in actual combat (almost no damage). Contact with a twiggy will quickly destroy any gear so wear only a robe while fighting them, and use only a training weapon or one that is easy to replace when it breaks. When you're ready to gain magic resistance skill you can go to the special twiggies to the east. They will use high-level spells against you but they'll do little damage. You will still need to keep yourself healed so it's a good chance to practice that skill too. There is a bulk resource stone there where you can buy everything you'll need.

Housing

You can have one house in WP, and you can add other houses by donating. We have static and customizable houses that will keep you busy for hours as you make it your own.

You may prefer to rent a townhome, especially when first starting out. You can rent anything from mining tents in Minoc to large buildings in major cities. There are apartments near Brit Bank as well as north of the Travel Center. Rentals work just like regular houses - you can have storage, vendors, locked-down items, etc.

Lothar's Quest

Once you get your combat skills up a little you're ready to see Lothar. Make sure you have some basic combat gear - any armor and weapon (except for training gear) should do nicely. Lothar can be found via the Guardian Travel Gate, Custom Destinations, Lothar's Quest. Give him the purple letter you started with and he'll send you into the dungeon to complete a few tasks. You'll find Briana on the western side of the dungeon.

New Player Dungeon

The stairs on the north end of the castle in Haven lead to the New Player Dungeon. Some foes there are strong but with a little planning and care you can defeat them all. Don't forget to use the [claim command after you have looted your corpse. It keeps the shard clean for nice fast world saves.

The Monster Killer

Joseph the Monster Killer is in New Haven near the travel gate. He is an old man and needs your help to slay the monsters that terrorize the lands. He will pay you gold for each contract you fill. Instead of using [grab on the corpse, use the monster contract deed to add the corpse to the contract. When it is completed, give the contract back to Joseph for your reward.

Harry Potter

Harry is at the magic shop in the town of Moon in Felucca. He needs help getting his Nimbus 2000 flying broom back from Draco Malfoy and his friends. If you get his broom Harry will reward you with a cloak of invisibility that will hide you whenever you put it on.

The Open Sea

Fishing is a popular activity that can provide food, decoration, and even treasure at higher levels. The regular fishing pole is used to gain in fishing skill, while the special pole can land the more exotic types of fish. Big fish like the marlin can be made into a mount to go on your wall.

You'll need to buy a boat to head out to sea, or you can ride a seahorse if you have a water medallion (purchased with tokens at the donation hall). SoS notes can be found on tougher water foes and they'll direct you to specific coordinates where a ship went down. Fishing there will net you all kinds of goodies.

Beware of pirates while in open water. They can be tough and are masters at commanding their ship so running away is also a difficult task.

Making Gold

Other than the usual monster bashing, you can make quick gold by selling items to other players. The most popular item is organic material which is found on earth elementals and other foes. It is an ingredient for making bio engineering pets which is a pretty advanced skill. Since you're starting out it's far more profitable to sell them to players who are ready to use them. They can sell for 100 gold or more per organic!

The Star Hunter

In the wilderness of Ilshenar can be found the Star Hunter. If you can defeat him a number of times you can get a piece of Star Hunter armor. It's a great set of gear that's a step above most player-crafted items.

Conclusion

This is just the beginning! Your adventures in WP are up to you. Whether you want to garden, tame exotic creatures for fun and profit, craft dozens of items, or fight and plunder, there's something for everyone to do. Help Zelda (in Britain, at Blackthorne's castle) and you can get several pieces of useful gear. Find the Ghostly Blacksmith and there will be a sword in your future. Be sure to look at the Master Quest List for other activities that might interest you. Tame a rust beetle and let him mine for you, or help the wounded centaur at the Serpentine Passage for another unique reward. Discover the Order of the Dark Rose and see if you can defeat them for their gear, or find the Keeper of the Magma and learn the secrets to mining and crafting with firerock -- if you survive the ordeal!
