Lower the price of vendor wages to a set max. 1000 gold peaces max per day or something like that. :D

1000gp a day!!! I don't have a vendor but I'm hoping that 1000gp you suggest is less then the real amount, if so, i'll never be able to afford one for very long.

Vendors have a rather low base pay, but their price per day goes up depending on the total price of everything they are selling. If you are selling only high value items, but don't sell them too often you can end up paying more for the vendor than what you makes on the sales.

I think some change should be made to the vendor system, but I'm not sure what change would be best. The max base pay may very well solve the problem, but maybe someone has some other ideas staff could work with?

I ditched all but one of my vendors for exactly this reason. Well, that and I got busy IRL and couldn't get on to pay one of the higher-salaried vendors. As a result I lost a couple million GP worth of scrolls & other items.

With a smallish playerbase, vendor salary caps would foster a growing economy without making it too cheap to conduct business.

I do know a trick on how to get free vendor cost per day. befor you do this i would run it by a Game Master(admin)

What you do is place a freash vendor at lets say 12:00pm. Then you set a nother freash vendor that is one square away, so they would be next to each other. Now you have your vendors set up next to each other and the time they take there payments is around 12 hours apart. Great job if you have gotten this far. Next you put all the items you want to sell on just one of the vendors. That vendor should only take gold every 24 hours. So, befor he collects his payment for the day you move all your items over to the next vendor. If you are able to get both vendor bags open at the same time you should beable to drag and drop with all the prices/text to stay the same. This way you will not haft to redo exp....max lvl 22 steel that is great for spawns. if you do this trick right all the words should carry over.

Good luck and hope everying can use this.

I saw another shard that offers vendors that work on a commission basis. They have a nominal per-day fee but any other charge is taken when an item actually sells. This would work wonders in getting a larger variety of items offered for sale.

To prevent players from using it as storage, they charge a 7% "restocking fee" to remove an item from the sale backpack once it is present for at least an hour. Not-for-sale containers must be empty before they can be removed; this prevents the nasty surprise of accidentally removing 1 mil worth of merchandise and being docked the restocking fee for your mistake.

I haven't looked into whether it was a custom script or if it was available for DL from a runuo site. It does seem to be a good approach to the expensive vendor issues.
