Follower Speed

I would like to put out the idea for an increase in the follower speed. I think my pets should be able to keep up with me as I traverse the lands.

One such example: A Pack Animal. I'd like to run back to a forge, or where ever, and have the Pack Animal stay with me. Instead, I need to walk and sometimes wait for it to catch up with me.

Sorta reminds me of the joke in Pulp Fiction and the Baby Tomato falling behind and an irritated Papa Tomato smacking him and saying, "Ketchup!"

Thank you for the reply and suggestion. However, that doesn't address the fact that followers don't move at a similar speed as my character. I can walk on foot, or on a mount, and the packy or other pet doesn't always keep up with me. I don't even have to mention what happens if I run.

I don't know if the two items you mentioned are pack animals, but the last thing I remember, if I mount a ridable pack animal, I can NOT run with it. It will lose stamina within a few steps, stop, and that'll be all she wrote.

I do think I remember that Escorts were doing a rather fine job of keeping up while I ran. Mounted or otherwise.

what if you were to train your pack pet and instead of using points for STR put points in DEX / Stamina.. would that make them move faster? never played with it so not sure if that effects how fast they move

The 2 pets that Avanthar mentions are indeed pack animals, and do not exhibit the slow down when being ridden that you mentioned.

I agree, pet following speeds are a bit low.. Lets say for instance a Rune Beetle. If you tell a Rune Beetle to follow you and your trying your best to get out of Khaldun without it dieing and you DONT have a petleash on you to shrink it, it will fall behind and become a high priest snack..

If anything you could make it a stamina issue where while they're leveling up they would need atleast 200 stamina or more to fully keep up with a player? OR you could make it a special command where they start to loose stamina as they're running with you?

Just thinking of ways to keep the balance..

Yes Follower speeds are alot slower then OSI. They keep up with you when you run but they may want the speed slower here.

Yea, I was testing it and if your mounted and "not quite" running but walking, your pets are left behind. Is there any quick fix for this in the future?

As of tomorrow morning's restart (unless I get a chance to restart sooner), pets who are following you should do a better job of keeping up with you. If you wear Storm's Wind Riders, you will still be able to outrun your followers - thats because the Wind Riders make you go FAST :D
