Lowering Item Count & Rewarding Top Players

I've seen the issue come up more than a few times over the years I've played UO,
where a very skilled and hard working player ends up collecting a large amount of
rares, deco, uber weaponry and armor, pets, etc. to the point where even the largest
house wont hold it all. Even with throwing out duplicates, non-rare items, etc. space
becomes an issue. And also, theres still a huge item count.
The idea I propose is a museum or hall of honor, inside of which there is 1 rare and
a plaque beside or above it listing the top players and how many of that rare item they
have collected. Items would be turned in to an NPC or chest etc. and the total on the respective
plaque for that player would be incremented (the plaques would look similar to the top scores list at the
casino). Then the extra items would be deleted from the shard, but the player still honored
for their accomplishment.
As a strong enticement, rares could be classified and rewards given. Since the veteran players likely
to participate in this program are also likely to be doing bioengineering, my suggested
reward would be an amount of organic material commeasurate with the rarity of the item.
I believe the benefit of this would be three-fold: lower item count, more exposure of the wonderful things available on WP, and enrichment of the gaming experience for veterans.
Thanks so much for considering it!
