Magi Gear

Something I have noticed on the shard is the balance issue between mage gear and fighting gear...It seems all of the decent gear is plate armor,1hand weapons and shields or Bows.

I propose a Magi set gained either by mages guild Very hard quest line OR random rare drops from current end game bosses.

Top to bottom idea for set..

Mages Hat(the ugly pointy one)
Magical necklace
Robe(NOT hooded)
Fancy Shirt
Leather gloves
Long Pants
Sandals/boots
Gnarled or Black stave with comparable stats to 1H AND shield stats combined, since it is a 2h weapon that would balance it with the current bows ect.

Ideally the total set stats would equal
100% LRC
+30 int
+15 health
Spell damage
Self Repair
+20 Magery/Eval int

This is meant to be on level with Crusaders set and just a rare but set to cater to the mages of the server and not limit them to resorting to heavy melee to compete.

I know I already have a hard enough time as a tamer since 99% of end game content are pet killers.

Stats are just a rough idea, obviously nothing I am set on seeing, just a template to give you an idea of what I was thinking rather than just kicking and screaming for some caster love :)

/edit Oh catchy set name! Mondains' Vestments OR cheesy expansion title rip off, Mondains Legacy Set...Or Just Elder Magi (insert item here) i.E Hat, Boots.

The crusaders gear covers this with augmentation with artifacts in game now. What some folks don't pick up on is that the Crusader set (fully mage armor) has a a lot of caster attributes. But many look at the set as just that. You want to look at your objectives then swap out pieces to suite (pun) your game play. That one set can be the basis for virtually every style you might choose to go after.

When I want to switch up to caster mode I change out three pieces of gear and I"m there... lots of mana... fast casting... tons of SD.

You can get to where you want, you just have to consider the available options.

Regards,
Kaw...

Oh yeah, I get that. I guess I was more looking for the look of a traditional mage, everyone wears plate armor and all of the decent armor is plate. Was just thinking it would be nice to have the same quality Light armor(clothing) for mages and even Studded armor for the hard core rangers that play so we are not forced to wear plate to be competitive with the servers content.

Jasper, Item Morph Deeds can help here. They can take a piece of gear (Crusaders Plate) for example, and morph it to look like another piece of clothing that goes in that same slot...a shirt for example. The item would retain the properties of the plate, but visually would look like a shirt.

A few years ago I made this exact same post except I was concerned that there wasn't enough melee gear in the game and that the crusader/tainted/star hunter sets favored casters too much. Turned out I was wrong. The tainted set in particular is incredible for casters with 100lrc, spell dmg bonuses, great mana regen and arms/legs/chest having a slot to spellcraft on.
