Mines through out the lands

I noticed today traveling though out the cities of Trammel there are some mines such as Minoc that have forges and anvils in them. Some mines and caves do not have them, which makes it difficult to smelt and haul ore. I do understand we have mobile forges and fire beetles but these things are difficult to obtain and cumbersome to haul around.

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a few choice places to have forges/anvils placed in them. Your player thoughts and ideas would help make this issue be addressed and possibly rectified. thanks in advanced and remember .... stay vertical !

Beginning miners are supposed to start out in the easier areas -- Minoc, Haven, etc -- that have forges nearby. There is also a forge near the Spirituality shrine in Ilshenar. Some mountains have player's homes nearby that offer public forges as well. You can even rent a townhome near a mountain and place your own forge.

The whole idea of the fire beetles, and later portable forges and anvils, is to work up to them. If you (the euphemistic "you," not you specifically) can't tame the beetle or craft a forge, see if you can purchase one from another player. WP has a decent economy and goods are always available for the right price. A lokai or pack horse can bridge the gap until you are ready to spend the big gold.

...speaking of mines...

I'm wondering if there is any real value in mining ore in more remote/dangerous locations.

For fun, I mapped out the sweet spots in the Minoc Mines, and compared them to two of the mines outside of Britain, and compared THOSE to the mountains near Iceing's home (pretty cool spot for a home, I have to admit -- pity that his forge is inside his private residence :o) ). Looking at the time it takes to mine six spots, and comparing that to drop rates ( I guess I should say respawn rates), it's far more efficient to mine in Minoc then any location I've found yet... All of this considering that the "sweetest spots" are spots which 'naturally' contain Verite, Valorite, and Blaze...

mining is a rather safe activity here in the Pines...Unless you are pounding rock on the side of a mount (which is possible and profitable) all the mines are "safe". The only real reason to venture out is as you stated respawn/replenishment rates. I commend you for taking the time to "map out" Minoc. Please continue doing so..however...when you ultimate become tired of that..there are rune books in the NPG Guildhouse in Luna and the Pineville Library that will aid you in your quest for specific ores....if you chose to continue mapping on your own...and I suggest and pray that you will....that can be quite rewarding as you may stumble upon a vein that has not been cataloged (which many exists that have not been) and you will be able to keep it for yourself without worry of it being depleted when you need it the most. Some mines do have forges in them....SE of Sleepy Hollow I believe has a forge or two and then there is Cara's Mining Camp...that is helpful (please replace any picks and shovels utilized). Rock pounder is one of the more profitable occupations here in the pines...there is always a need for Ore...be it common Iron for those intrepid Tinkers...or Electrum and Platinum for those delving into more arcane pursuits.

In any case...enjoy your rock pounding
