I belittled no one.. I'm sorry you feel threatened by whatever is going on. I find no one inferior to me. Clearly you cannot grasp the concept of what this thread is about. All you did was bash an idea. One that was more or less dead from the second response. I am not out of challenges. I simply put down what not only myself.. but others that have actually responded have had talks about. Maybe respond with other ideas...

As i will say for the THIRD time... i agree with chvayres solution over the several that i put out there.. And as i stated before your first post yordor... I have retracted my original thoughts in favor of another constructive suggestion.

Where is the constructive banter when you are attacking someone for suggesting something? I have made many suggestions here.... non of which have happened they way i have suggested. My suggestions are merely a jumping off point for a collective arrangement of people to come together. Say" yeah that sounds cool" " no... not sure that would work"

Sensitive is attacking a dead issue...I state i use my steed as well.. am i belittling my own playing style? Perhaps you take a moment to read the previous posts. Perhaps see that the solutions are there. perhaps take a moment to understand I'm not intending to take anything away. I said from the beginning... I use mine... probably more than i should as well.

If you read anything... you would see in my first post... even had a contingent for them staying at the same strength as they are... maybe just a more fun in depth way to get them. It was a reaching out... which the best solution came in the second reply.

In the end... this started 3 months ago with Avanthar when Avanthar made this comment... more or less about me. It made me think about what I'm doing. I took it as personal challenge. (Which i appreciate greatly) I would not be the player i am now had Avanthar not pushed me. Had not "forced" me out of my comfort zone. He changed his mind on the subject.. and that is perfectly fine. I personally don't care how everyone else plays.. Macro... pets... no pets.. certain pets... restricted to one style ( mage,swords,bow) or the use of all of them at their convenience. That's what UO has always been about. That's why they gave you 5 players. Here we have the privilege to do all of it on one player.

It seems only one person (that responded) read what i had to say without "anger". I listed several thoughts and everyone stuck on one and attacked that.... as if it was going to happen and they needed to repel it.

It was a thought... based on past and recent talks or comments. I am personally grateful for the challenge that Avanthar put on me. It has made me a much better player. The goal was to get constructive thoughts on the issue. Not overstated rebuttals.. I loved the quip by Ari... the great idea from Chvarye.

This was my thought as was Avanthars 3 months ago to me... I just gave it to the entire shard instead of one person.

It's nice to see a post generate such a heated debate.
I understand what Merch is just putting an idea out there, but I think that players should be able to play the game as they wish and should not be forced into a particular way of playing.

well it would seem we have created quite the fire storm...I had thought I had written my response dispassionately and without any sensitivity. I am now thinking that may have been misconstrued...allow me to state hopefully clearly that my intent was not to single out any single person play style or promote my own or to make any of my statements personal (except towards those dang pink fluffy things). In a perfect world would I love everyone to strive to walk around kicking dragons naked? absolutely...I have, over the years, decided that the only person I have any influence over is myself and my game play...over the years my game play has been somewhat inconsistent as my outlook changes based on what I feel like accomplishing today.

I do thank Merch for taking the time and starting this post as I think it was a discussion that need to happen out in the open, trying to have it within the game constricted to 2 sentences at a time is cumbersome and ineffective. We need to be able to have these discussions within the forums without things degrading into emotional banter.

So in the interest of peace love and understanding...I shall apologize and retract any statement that may have been taken as a personal attack, or was interpreted as an emotional response. If my post triggered the avalanche of negativity and over reaction then I am truly sorry and shall in the future chose my words more carefully and remove any hint of emotion from writing.

and for the record...I cannot be offended, angered, or otherwise irritated by any response posted here in the forums. This is a free game...and we are all just 1.5" little robe encased cartoon figures running around my screen as I twiddle away the hours of my day awaiting ever so patiently for my dog to tell me she needs another walk.

I wasn't trying to put anyone down.. I understand.. No one wants to see them eliminated.I put out several things that seemed to go un noticed.I would miss them as well if that were something to happen.

I appreciate Avanthars and Blues words. I'm not in your heads to how you feel about something. I'm not here to bash ANYONE. I was getting the pulse of the shard on a subject that's out there... and keeps coming up. Not a "if you don't like it don't use it" response. That isn't helpful to anyone. And doesn't address anything else mentioned.

As i said... there are many ways to do things... as in avanthars first post he made a comment towards people going after the high level pets right off the bat. Maybe a comment could have been make steeds a Vet reward of so many days? now relax... I'm not saying to do that.. but that's a constructive comment.

I'm fully on board with chvayre's suggestion in making an area pet free for ALL of us to enjoy. If that's something staff wants to put their time into. By far better than anything i had.

I apologize to avanthar if my comments posted directly after you seemed condescending.. I was trying to tread carefully. Was not my intention.

ok I know i said i was going to put a stake in it but as i reread my initial post and the following comments I did realize something that was rather erroneous on my part. I used the term "you" throughout the post...I can see now that I have reread it with the context of the follow up post that Merch could take that as I meant that he could stop using or he could do such and such...That was wrong. My intent was to actually come down partially upon his side and the term "you" was to be the collective population...I want to state publically that that was my error and at no point should Merch be inserted into the "you" within my post....If I had worded the post more carefully and correctly all this nonsense could have been avoided. His points are quite valid and I fully support Chry've thought of a pet free zone.

I apologize for hurting others feelings by mentioning it. I am however encouraged by the one who took it constructively..

Where did I get it wrong? So far any differing opinion is dismissed as "hurt feelings". I replied explaining my irritation at how the idea had been worded and that I was not aware that there were people complaining that things were too easy.

Then you pile it on in your next reply:

No, that's not saying I'm stupid; it's just saying my reading comprehension is sub-par. You can't get more condescending than that. I didn't bash any idea except the concept that a tamer is somehow a less "worthy" character type than others. The bulk of your replies in this thread are explaining how everyone else just doesn't get it and not what you do want to see.

You got that reaction, except anyone who expressed reservations was shot down as close-minded. I don't object to the use of pets or the avoidance thereof. I think a new dungeon is fine. Dialog requires at least two viewpoints or it is just a speech.

Let's go ahead and make this new dungeon more challenging -- disallow casting too. Healing by bandages only. Only player-crafted weapons & armor allowed. I can only hope I'm not too stupid to find the entrance when it is opened.

wow.. Avanthar didn't feel that way... You do. You simply only want to draw on what you want to draw on Yordor. Your showing nothing but ignorance. Firstly... the only focus here is on that i mentioned that maybe we consider the steed not being here.. or available to the most veteran members... or maybe altered in a way that maybe it isn't all dominate.

As reference to you being able to read... yes... read my whole first post. it also states... as i have now stated several times that keeping it is just fine.. maybe we could make a more fun maybe more challenging way to get one. Also ask for others input. I knew it was a touchy subject. Thats why i tried to keep it more like and speak to feelings.

If you insist on the banter fine. Continue to read what i have PREVIOUSLY posted. it was suggestions. It now sound like your the only one that really had their feelings hurt. I can't help that. You continue to show your in ability to handle this thread.

You could also take out the number of sentences where i agree with some points.. where i have conceded that someone else had a better idea. Where the thing was entirely over before you even got involved.

Wow, just WOW. This thread has gotten completely out of hand and will now be locked.

Everyone needs to be a little nicer and show a little more respect for others and their viewpoints. Remember...Be Nice, Play Nice, Have Fun! Far too many things lately have been misinterpreted, or misunderstood, creating far too much drama on our little shard.

WP supports all play styles. If you wish to play with pets, fine. If you don't, that's perfectly fine too.
