A Wiki Page for WP!!

Oh yes... this would be very nice for this shard. A wiki page listing "in detail" all of the little perks and quirks of this shard.. Of course not giving away any locations of anything... Just displaying all of the things that is "possible" to obtain on this shard.

And hey, if you needed someone to make it, I'm more than happy to sit down for a week or so and build the information up. I'd just need exact numbers for some of the info... say the exact amount of minimum taming required for certain pets.. what their special ability's are... What needed and how to obtain certain items required for crafting (say if you need a fire ruby, of course you have to mine them... but like exactly how much mining is required for them and the % chance of them popping up at certain mining skill levels). Just things like that.

I think it would REALLY help out the new player community AND give some of the old veteran players something they can put their 2 cents on to give advice and tips on getting. The main reason this would be a good idea (atleast to me) is that certain players on this shard get PM'd to DEATH asking for just basic information... wouldn't it be nice if they could just reply, "Its on the Wiki page under (such and such)".

You could even make it a section at the top where its like "Home History Forums (Wiki) " ya know?

I am very much in favor of a Wiki page for WP and I think it would be a great help to all players new and old. I think the forum itself would be a great Wiki resource. Lets say you were writing about a certain topic on the Wiki and if there was information about it on the forums you could make a cross reference link to the same topic in the forums. Just an idea you might consider.

Oh yea that would be easy. Just make certain valuable information on the forum into a sticky that way the link can't be broken or lost and then just <a href="http://(insert link here)"> </a> and tada!

But what I was going to work on... that is if our fearless leader approves of this.. is BOD charts for the wiki page such as tailoring rewards (whatever custom rewards we have here), Taming rewards (customs again), Tamable animals and how much taming is required/element types/special attacks they do... you know... the really indepth stuff that only a very select few players know..

And since this is an ever evolving shard, we could make the wiki "open" so players could add content based on relevance to the topic... and of course the new comments would have to be looked over and approved by the site admin (fearless leader).

I would REALLY like to get started on this seeing as I have quite a bit of time on my hands for the next few months.. Anyway we could start a poll in-game say on a stone of YAY or NAY? Like, run the poll for a few weeks?

Also, alot of the basic information would be easily obtainable from the main UO site seeing as we haven't deviated TOO terribly far from it. Like say the tailoring BOD chart's... the DOOM artifacts... the stealables available (not giving away ANY locations of course)... also just having all this information gathered at a very easy navigatable site would be kinda nice dont ya think? Instead of having to look at 9+ posts that are 4 pages long, just do a search on the Wiki and find articles according to relevance?

While I enjoy your enthusiasm tnblewis, I feel I must point out a couple of things.

As far as I can tell, the forums already function as a wiki. But the time you include all the things you mention including in the wiki, you will have a monsterous document that is basically a repeat of certain sections of the forums.

There is a forum section for New Player Guides, and it in fact includes the BOD charts for smithing, tailoring and taming, all specific to WP and our rewards.

This is the type if information that we leave for players to reason out on their own. If someone wants to take the time to reason it out and make a post or a guide on it, go for it.

Yes, I do. See the New Player Guides section of the forums or use the search.

Again, See the New Player Guides section of the forums. Unfortunately, most players do not take the time to read what has already been written. 90% of what is asked can be found in the forums if a simple search is done. If there are topics you would like to see added, you are free to post them.

Players are free now to add comments or information to existing posts, or post entire new guides if they wish.

You probably have not noticed, but links to forum posts do not work. It's on my list of things to fix, but it hasn't happened yet, and may not be possible due to the way we are displaying the forums.

You may have missed it, but Devir Santi, of the KwN guild, has a site that is a sort of Wiki for WP, written from the player's point of view - tons of good info there too, along with a place where players can put in suggestions/give info. You can find it here: KwN Guild Informational Site

Like I said in the beginning, I DO enjoy your enthusiasm tnblewis. In the forums, search is your friend. Perhaps you could further explain how the wiki would be different and not a rehash of the information we already have?

LoL ... Man.. you never cease to amaze me. Sorry for making a big deal about this... As much as I troll around on here you would've thought I would've found such information but I've mainly been looking at the suggestions area and trying to see what other features I've played with on other shards and just wondered if they could be incorporated on here.. but it seems most of them already have!

Again, humility on my part. ^_^ As per the norm.. hehehe
