If the drop rate, dungeon level depth (where the chests appear), lockpicking difficulty, and/or trap strength can be modified, as well as surrounding spawn difficulty, it may be possible to balance the challenge with the increased reward.
This post is by no means a complaint about the existing dungeon setup - I have nothing but praise for the great job and hard work WP staff have done already. The essence of the idea is to provide a higher motivation to visit the deepest nooks and crannies of the dungeons and search all of the chests.
