Patching to 5.0.6.c

Over the last couple of months, staff has noticed that many players were having minor glitchy issues. In 9 out of 10 instances, it was discovered that the player was not patched to 5.0.6.c (either under- or over-patched). Once they patched to 5.0.6.c, thing smoothed out for them.

I cannot over emphasize the importance of patching to 5.0.6.c. It will make your experience on the shard less stressful, as the chance for something glitchy to happen is greatly reduced. If you are under patched, just start the uopatch.exe application, located in your UO installation directory. Be ready to stop it as soon as 5.0.6.c finishes and it begins 5.0.6.d. If you are over-patched, you only option is to uninstall UO, then reinstall it and then patch up to 5.0.6.c

See you on the shard!

this is how I patched to 5.0.6 c
You can download this file and put it in your patch directory. Right click the file and select properties. In the properties window check read only then click ok. Then start up uo patch. It will only be able to patch to 5.0.6c now so you don't have to worry about timing when you click cancel :geek:

This link to File Front works fine but for several weeks at least the file has been "File is Unavailable".

Geoffrey, thanks for noting the problem.

The file can now be found here in a Zip archive:
http://wpshard.com/images/WP-Patches/uoml_win32_5-0-6d.zip

You will have to unzip the rtp file it contains after download.

Remember to follow these instructions:

Had some trouble earlier trying to get the game related to 5.0.6.c. Followed the Getting Started guide but when I pressed play on the ConnectUO the game started patching beyond 5.0.6.c. Can't remember what the problem was since it flashed so fast but it brought up the UO launcher and started patching away.

Tried it again and it and it did the same thing but this time it stopped at 5.0.6.d. Managed to catch the message which said "Process with an Id of 2516 is not running. The PID 2516 may be invalid."

If the RTP file is set to read only in the UO patches folder, there is no way the patcher can download and write the 5.0.6d file, so it will stop at 5.0.6c. You can also manually stop it in the UO patcher app. The RTP file is just a helper and not needed if you manually stop the patcher.

Also keep in mind that ConnectUO minimizes to the tray after you click launch, and if you are running Vista, you have to quit that copy before you can run another copy, which might be where you are getting your PID error.

Keep us posted.

I run XP because Vista was chock full of headaches for me.

The second time I attempted the process I followed the suggestions on this thread. I downloaded the file unzipped and placed it in the patches folder of Mondains Legacy and set it to read only. After that I started patching the game. I noticed during the patching phase of both attempts that the game only initially patches up to 5.0.6.a. Is that normal and if it isn't could that be the cause problem?

I haven't given another shot at it since the last message but will be trying later.

Just tried it again and had the same patching thing happen. I assume the shard patch is on and I will try to log on using razor after deleting the 5.0.6.d file.
