Hi Ingwe,

When you reroll a value that's already existing, it has a chance to fall anywhere in the range of 1-X. X being different for every stat. Your Harm example is accurate. Another example is on the Chiv's Shades, the Damage Increase is +5. Because damage increase per item is around 20 or 25, there's a good possibility that spellcrafting that stat will result in an increase, but hey.. it could drop it to +1 or destroy the item.

A negative, such as the one you've mentioned should in theory spellcraft to a positive as spellcrafting can't result in a negative value. I have not tested that specific item. Another test I've failed to really vet out is trying to spellcraft +durability onto the glass sword. It's always blown up in my face.

Hi Exodus,

Huge edit from original post. I've learned some things through trial-and-error along the way so some of the questions became invalid.

The only thing I'm not clear on now, and I think everyone might benefit from knowing, is how exactly you craft/reroll resists on armor. You said that it was possible in your original post, regardless of how many mods were on the item, but so far I've completely failed at it twice. I tried twice to reroll Cold Resist on a Flame Shield - both times it told me that I was successful but the shield's Cold Resist value never changed. Then I tried again to change the Fire Resist on a Star's Helm of Light - again, twice the system told me I was successful but the Fire Resist never changed. Please nudge me in the right direction here! :D

Great guide - thank you.

Question... Is there a list of dungeons and bosses that drop spellcrafting items?

When this guide was written...only the Boss of Hyloth dropped the book, gems and jewels. Currently, the Boss of Hyloth is the only place to get the book but all other dungeon bosses may drop Jewels and Gems. The other Bosses....Cove, Ice, Hermit, Fire, and Despise....i think i got the dungeons right..but that can easily be answered in game (i forget the dungeon that the Hermit is in)

I have found that even though certain items may have existing properties you may not be able to change or attempt to change the properties due to a locked in feature that only allows certain attributes on certain items. For instance if a piece of armor or clothing has Spell Damage Increase on it you cannot attempt to Spellcraft the item b/c you get a message that states that SDI may only be added to jewelry. I have found this for a few other properties as well.
