Self Resurrecting without losing strength & other Virtues

Many players of U.O. over look a set of abilities that I am going to mention here. They are simply called Virtues. Many virtues don’t work even in normal U.O. so it has become easy to overlook them. There are however, three virtues that may be useful on W.P.

First to access these virtues open your paper doll. Directly above your character there is a circle with many symbols. Double click this. It will bring up a much larger version. If you place your cursor on each one it will tell you what they are. Here are the three virtues that you might find to be useful in some way on W.P. I will list them from least to greatest in my opinion.

Compassion: The art of resurrecting allies with more health

Gaining compassion on W.P. is fairly simple. Do escorts. The simple act of finding an NPC’s that need to go to a destination and then taking them will make this skill go up. Most of these can be found around Haven. Only draw backs are you have to wait 5 minutes between each escort and you can only earn five compassion points a day.

As you gain in compassion you will notice that you receive a compassion title when you are in the virtue gump. There are three titles in total: Seeker of Compassion, Follower of Compassion, and Knight of Compassion. Other players will not see this title.

So, what does all these work and title do for you?

At each title you gain the ability when you resurrect another play to bring them back to life with more life than is normal. Must use the mage spell of resurrection for this to work.

Seeker of Compassion: will resurrect an alley character with 20% of their maximum hits points

Follower of Compassion: will resurrect an alley character with 40% of their maximum hits points

Knight of Compassion: will resurrect an alley character with 80% of their maximum hits points

Greatest thing about this skill is this ability is automatic and can be used as many times as the player wishes as long as they use mage spells to resurrect someone.

Some may think how is this useful? Well in the heat of a battle resurrecting an alley with 80% health can mean the difference between life and death for both you and them.

The main draw back to this skill is points in Compassion wear off over time. Meaning if you want to use this and keep the highest virtue title on it, you will have to continue escorting NPC’s from time to time.

Sacrifice: The art of self resurrection

Gaining in the skill of Sacrifice is a lot more work than Compassion. To some the journey to get there is worth the effort.

First a player must gain a level of fame, for best results max out your fame at 15000. Does not matter if you are evil or good on karma

Once you have obtained fame you can “Sacrifice” it to defeat certain enemies.

These monster types are as follows: Lich, Enslaved Gargoyle, Gargoyle Enforcer, Demon, Succubus, and Evil Mage.

To perform this “Sacrifice” Open the Virtue gump located above your character on the paper doll. Double-click the Sacrifice symbol (Teardrop), if you have sufficient fame a target will appear. Target one of the above monster types and you will kill it almost instantly.

Some restrictions apply. If the monster has taken damage, you can not see it, you are invisible, or you are dead this won’t work of course. You can also only “Sacrifice” your fame once every 24 hours.

As you become a mighty enough warrior to gain all that fame the real question becomes why “Sacrifice” the fame on monsters that you can probably defeat in relatively short order?

Well you get these little titles: Seeker of Sacrifice, Follower of Sacrifice, and Knight of Sacrifice.

Each of these titles confers a bonus to the player

Seeker of Sacrifice: Self-resurrect one time per week

Follower of Sacrifice: Self-resurrect two times per week

Knight of Sacrifice: Self-resurrect three times per week

Some further bonuses are:

1) Self-resurrecting characters will not suffer any stat or skill loss normally associated with insta-resurrection such as the 5 strength loss and 500 karma hit from either of the W.P. commands “i pray for life” or blood for the inferno.

2) Characters should instantly recover all the items they had on their corpse.

Draw backs are:

1) Can only be used a limited number of times per week
2) You will come alive with 1 hp and 1 mp.
3) Items that have been looted or decayed are NOT instantly recovered
4) Sacrifice points wear off over time. Meaning if you want to use this and keep the highest virtue title on it, you will have to continue raising your fame and “Sacrificing” it on the above listed monsters.

Honor: Two fold ability of moving among your enemies unharmed and dealing out increasing amounts of damage. My favorite since I like to drop my foes as fast as possible

You'll need to make a macro for this skill: Invoke Virtue > Honor, and then target your enemy. You must do so while it is still at full health. Each time you make a successful hit with your weapon the damage done will increase. It can eventually double the damage done, and this can be stacked along with the bardic skill "discord" and the "Enemy of One" spell.
