Although I may be wrong, I believe the Thunder Wyrm Soul Crossbow, along with it's Mace, is a one-time only item (Correct me if I'm wrong.). I haven't tried, but from what I heard if you do the quest again you only get gold. Have you done the quest yet?

You're absolutely right Elizabeth. You can only turn it in one time. Short of tricking someone into turning it in and giving you the item, you only get gold for subsequent returns.
