Mysteries to be solved

I've looked around and not found... answers to mysteries

Which mobs yield which types of leather? I know up through Horned/Barbed and the Yellow/Red scales but that's it. I'm not sure I know exactly what all can be done with those scales either.

What ingredients are needed to make each type of resource key?

How do I use the mining gems, lumbering drops (bark frags, etc.) and loot gems in crafting?
- I did see something about bark frags to make pulp or something wasteful for making scrolls, but that is is.
- I know we don't have the Heartwood quests for crafters so maybe some or most is useless... then please someone let me know because it takes up time and space to be managed in storage when I should just sell it all.

EDIT: I forgot this one important mystery... do Large BOD for weapons exist in WP? I have collected maybe 75 Large BOD so far and not seen one. Thinking they do not exist in Large BOD, I've gone ahead and turned in maybe 50 Small BOD for weapons. I've paid my noob dues in this respect I think so if it is a secret please PM. I won't mind traveling all over in search of them, if I must.

I apologized for being so "info needy" but I left the game before any of this came out and googling has not been as useful as I would have hoped (don't have hours each day to sift through all the useless or bad info out there).

Thanks in advance for any help,
Q

The game will happily tell you what is required to craft any item. That's what the square button on the right of each item is for.

Clicking that will give you this:

Items that require special recipes to make aren't craftable in WP. They're either not available or are obtained by other means.

Gems have no practical use except for making jewelery, and then only when using a runic tool to give it random attributes. Jewelery made with a regular tool is just decoration.

Bark fragments are an ingredient in special books -- I think the scroll storage book but it could be BOD storage. Clicking the little square thingy in that section of the inscription tool will tell you the ingredients.

The easiest way to see what kind of leather comes from what animal is to just start skinning creatures. I don't remember all of them myself. Another thread asked about frost leather -- try skinning a white wyrm. Leather elementals of all types are found in dungeons too. Taming the lokai that the MoA rides will give you a ton of leather of all types.

Scales are used to make dragon scale armor via the smithy hammer. The square menu thingy will tell you what's required for each item. The attributes of each scale color are unknown -- that's part of the fun. Stratics has a list but I've found it doesn't really apply here.

Spacerx answered the BOD question in game. Nobody has done more BODs than he has, so if he says there are no weapon BODs, I'm willing to believe they don't exist.

Thanks so much Yordor!

Well I feel a bit dumb seeing how you can just click on that box. That was probably not the best time to be "clicky" shy but I don't have much luck clicking things; as evidenced by the following story.

I won a golden twiggy at the chili eating contest. Didn't have a clue about it so I started playing with it. Up pops a list of stats/buffs with an arrow clicky next to each one. Duh, I should have recognized it as similar to adding stats for your pet (which I had done just once before so it was kinda' vague in my mind). Sometimes you get the well designed "OK?" button when you make selections with your mouse... not in this case. I now have a deed to add +1 reflect physical to a piece of armor, but I never melee. I just clicked that one for some reason, expecting another options list or something lol. I suppose there were worse options to select so maybe not so bad as a gift for someone else.

But you did save me a lot of trouble so thanks again Yordor.

Heres a quick list for leather types.
Regular-cows, deer, bulls etc(outside Delucia is great)
Spined-Lizardmen(Upstairs in Despise)
Horned-Drakes and Wyverns(Destard)
Barbed-Dragons and Shadow Wyrms(Destard) White Wyrms(Ice)
Anything higher than Barbed can be skinned from leather elementals or by using a gargoyles knife.
Gargoyles Knives drop off regular gargoyles and higher luck helps the drop rate.
BE CAREFUL using a gargoyles knife they have a chance to spawn a leather elemental and
they hurt alot. Dragons and Drakes in Destard are easy custom leather farming spots.
Hope this helps!
