Keys and LRC sets

Sorry for being so dumb about this but I did search here and elsewhere for maybe 30 or 45 minutes, yet still have not found what I need to know about making storage keys and LRC sets.

What are the basics of making storage keys and LRC sets?

I would like to know some things such as...
Will storage keys just show up on my Tinkering Tools menu? (and will that be only when I get to GM or something?)
Will LRC simply be added to an item when I make an exceptional leather tunic (or whatever)... or will I need some exotic ingredients from an adventurer perhaps? I guess I'm looking for a "path" to get to my goal but I'm not even sure I know where the path begins.

Thanks in advance.

the storage keys need you to have high skill levels in multiple skills, for example, the music stand needs gm tinker, provo and disco. They usually need expensive or hard to get ingredients, the music stand needs 2 onyx keyrings (bought with tokens), 200 oilcloth, 100 demonic leather and 100 bamboo boards. I have 120 in all these skills and I have a success chance of 40% (lower skill levels have less chance of success). So, statistics would suggest that I will fail 60% of the time and if i did, all those ingredients would be destroyed. So you can see it can be an expensive and time consuming exercise. the storage keys are listed under "customs" on the tinker menu.
As far as I know, lrc will be randomly added to an item when its created with a runic tool, the higher lvl runic, the more attributes it adds. I think you can get a spellcraft book and add attributes, but am not sure about lrc. Resources tend to add certain properties if I remember right, like spined leather adds luck and horned adds fire resist, but don't quote me.
Hope this helps a bit and I may have the lrc bit all wrong, but I am sure I will be corrected if I am

LRC is one of the attributes that can be given to a piece of armor when it is crafted with a runic tool -- either a hammer or sewing kit. These tools are found as loot, as rewards for minor quests, or are rewards for completed bulk orders. Unfortunately you can't choose which attribute(s) you get -- LRC, faster swing, more damage, etc, so you may create a lot of items before getting the exact combination you're looking for. This is why full LRC sets sell for so much. Higher level runics typically impart more attributes and at higher values.

You should have the storage keys in your tinker menu now, under the bottom Customs selection. Like Blue Fin said, they require a good amount of expensive ingredients and they're very likely to go "poof" when the attempt fails. Once you do succeed, the keys are very useful and can sell for around 700k gold each.

Thanks guys, that was good stuff. I really do appreciate it. I have some ideas now and of course the biggest debate I will have (with myself) over this is whether to use a particular key or sell it.

A nice long term goal that is really worth it I think. As you can imagine, a long time crafter (in numerous games) would drool uncontrollably over those keys. :P *wipes the drool with his sleeves*
