Xero, I'll be happy to answer your questions. When the shard crashes and the last save is called up, anything gained since the last save is lost - whether it be donation items or normal items. Saves are every 15 minutes. If I had just given out a donation item(s) and there was a crash before the system could save, I would, in that instance, of course replace the donation item.
After that point, however, it becomes the responsibility of the player to protect his/her gear through insurance or blessing, as staff would have no way of knowing what you did or did not loose (or claim to loose, as the case sometimes is).
That is why this rule is included in the shard rules:
If, for any reason, the shard suffers a glitch, bug, crash and/or rollback (i.e. an old save file has to be used) and characters lose skills or items, the items or skills will not be replaced. There is no way for the staff to determine what a player had acquired since the last save.
If your items are blessed or insured (and you have the gold in the bank to cover the insurance) there is no reason to ever loose gear.
Concerning the 5 PowerScrolls, yes, they are 5 of your choosing.
