Donations
Posted: Thu Feb 18, 2016 1:42 pmWith the recent changes to the shard, there has been some player grumbling (and flat out anger, to be honest) regarding prior donations those players have made. They feel that they have somehow been cheated out of something. The following is from the donations page:
Keep in mind that you are donating for the operating costs of the shard and that donations are non-refundable. The rewards you may choose are just a bonus. If your rewards are lost due to crash, rollback, negligence, or just plain player stupidity (i.e. you threw them away), they will not be replaced.
We have never, nor will we, charge players to play here. We have never asked players for donations. When you donate, you are not "buying" a piece of the shard. The reward items you get are a bonus and a thank you for your support. The items available as reward items were items that were nice to have, but not required to play the game. We did this because we know that not all players have the means to donate. Also, all donation items can be earned in-game too, meaning that no content is cash-only. It may take a long time to collect the credits but it can be done without ever spending a cent of real money.
We (staff) must always look at the overall health and direction of the shard, and make appropriate changes to keep WP alive and functional for the future.
