[Mesmerize]

Lately i have been thinking alot about guilds and the real purpose of them. I feel a guild should be a group of people who like to hunt and have fun together and helps new players get a start in the game. I have seen alot of Drama with guilds on WP and have to ask myself, do i really want to be in a guild? Who needs this added stress in life? This is supposed to be a game meant for fun. Also seems numbers seem to play a big part with guilds, like its some kind of competition to see who can have the most guild members. There seems to be small clicks of people who only hang out and do things and don't ask others to join. So with all this being said I would like everyone to think about what a guild is really supposed to be and come together and help out more and hunt together more and make it fun with less drama. I will also throw in $0.02 on this. It seems that some people have an issue with me for being 'crude' or horrible. If you have an issue with me, PM me. Don't whine about it to other people. There is also an ignore function in the [c menu. It really is not hard to click.
Attar : You threw a fit about a comment I made about Liz in guild chat no-less. If she had an issue with it, she would have told me that was not funny or to stop (which I would have). Or at the very least mute me. Did she? No. The morning after, she did her usual introductions of 'throwing chainsaws at me'. That is childish to bombard Liz with complaints about me.

My take on guilds. I love being able to talk in guild chat to people I enjoy playing this with. So for me unless other chat opens I love being in guild. Now in my long time of playing UO I've been member. unguilded, and even guild leader, on different shards. When I was guild leader we could only have 20 members in guild. After that you had to spin off. My guild started 2 spin offs. Here is what we did before we let anyone in guild:

Someone would play with them and let them do all looting and see if they were greedy or asked if other wanted some of loot.
Then a hunt guild leader and person recruiting the player. See how they are

Then big guild hunt. How are they with everyone.

Then vote

If they lose vote still they can be friends of the guild. and try later like 2 weeks later.

I will not argue but, Cutter John he was not bombarding me. And I was my happy self as usaual, because I try to forget things like that and give others another chance. But I won't try to change who you are. If you do things I don't really like or are a certan way around others I just won't bother and I will keep it to myself.
Also, that's a good point, Dawn Wind, I'll start doing that. Good idea, then we won't be worrying about pointless things or about others in the same guild being a certan way we don't like or upseting us.

Mez, I agree that the guilds, not only in this game seem to have become a numbers game. As we discussed, it would appear that in most guilds there around 75% of members who are rarely or never played with, yet are still kept in the Guild. Maybe we need to stock take and concentrate on having more smaller guilds containing only people who really want to play together.

John, you really don't seem to get it. I simply left Liz's guild and only told her why when she asked. No whining involved, period. I told her I still wanted to play with the Guild members but did not want to continually see your often uncalled for and frequently off-color comments on the Guild chat. I am not a prude but I believe there is a time and place for everything and most of what you were saying I considered inappropriate for a mixed public audience.
The vitriol you sent back to Elizabeth by PM was really upsetting for her and uncalled for, and simply confirms my comments. A simple "I am sorry, and will watch what I say in future would have been much more considerate. My observations of you attitude and comments are not limited to myself and are shared by several other players in other guilds. There are times John when we all need to look at ourselves and reassess.

Cutter John Attar was not the only one with complaints and I will not point fingers or yell names but there were multiple members including myself not happy with you.
And yes, a simple "I'm sorry." would've been nice and could've kept you in guild without any further complaints.
Even though I am not happy with you I hope that in the future you will find a new guild with players that you will play with often and respect the way you are.
But I guess all this isn't just your fault as I wasn't carefull enough about choosing players to join guild. If a player would like to join my guild, normally I will accept them in and help them out with whatever they need. I'm very welcoming meaning normally I accept anyone without thinking and I just figured that you wouldn't end up upseting any of the guild members.
I do have to admit though, that you can be a kind player if you tried more and knew my guild members a bit better. Everyone has a different sense of humor and everyone thinks different things are ok to say and what is not.
But you need to be a little more carefull on what you say and do, you don't have to listen or read any of these posts if they are upseting you it is your choice.

So, refusing to tell me right when it happens if you get 'insulted' or 'hurt' until much later means nothing, but coming up long after said comments saying a simple apology would suffice is better?
You two miss the painfully obvious point here. Not me. It is better to say it when it happens instead of letting it pester. Stop trying to pass the blame onto me when you are also at fault.
If neither of you can take a joke from someone who does not have the same sense of humor as you (holy crap, batman, it does exist!), too bad. The world does not work that way.

I will not apologize for a comment you two let fester instead of saying it right out. This is not worth apologizing over.

John, you are so defensive that you fail to understand. No one is asking you for an apology, It was only suggested that at the time it would have proved a more reasonable response to have given if you had wished to remain in the Guild.
No one is "blaming" you for anything.
I have only tried to point out to you that you seemed so self-absorbed in what you think are clever innuendos that you showed a complete indifference and insensitivity to others, not only to Elizabeth and I, but to the guild you wished to become part of.
However, I personally, will never forgive you for upsetting Elizabeth the way you did with those PM's you sent to her.
