Warning on pet power scrolls

I was training a rune beetle and his skills suddenly stopped gaining even though some of his skills were still low (anatomy at 17.8, wrestling at 89, meditation at 81). I spoke with Ghost to try to figure out the problem. He looked at my rune beetle and advised me that rune beetles have a skillcap of 700 and therefore can not gain beyond 700 even when some skills are low. He told me that using a pet power scroll would not fix this as it does not raise the skill cap.

So, as a warning to all, don't make the same mistake I did. If the pet has a skillcap of 700, then the pet ps will do you no good. This is more pronounced on the rune beetle because they have an 8 skill base with poisoning already over 120 but could affect any pet with a low skill cap.

Great information and thank you for posting it, Raven. I'm sorry the pet power scroll could not be used properly. :(

If there is room under the cap, then a Pet PS could be used. That also assumes, in the case of anatomy for example, that you could get the pet to train just that.

Refer to This Post

Where Coyote pointed out that Pet PS were more useful for Bio pets than regular pets.

Are all of the non-engineered pets capped at 700?

All pets, including bio-engineered pets, have a skill cap of 700. The difference is that human bio pets have a control panel that lets you mark skills up or down, much like your own skill control. This lets you decide exactly how to use the point distribution.
