Keep it the same! Just my $0.02 , when there is a shard wipe and players have to start fresh the majority of old players do not return. Seen it happen more then a few times. It's not the loss of items as much as time spent on raising skills and such that causes players not to want to do it again. In most cases the change is not worth it.

I agree, right away if it is to happen at all and the sooner the better. I didn't care about newest stuff or old stuff for that matter... I just love the freedom that UO offers. If there is that Heartwood crafting to gain, that stuff sounds good to a crafter. I may never do all there is to do adventuring in our current world but I have been hoping for new crafting content. BOD improvements would be welcomed.

Yordor mentioned some concern about EasyUO and UOAM. I use Razor and plan to use EasyUO so I'd at least want something like that.

I don't think I'll vote but will defer to those who have put much more time into WP than I have. I'll leave it up to the rest of you to vote and I'll go along with whatever we end up doing. I'm very flexible... but I also have to say that for anyone who has donated to the shard... those folks might not be too happy to lose their "thank you" gifts. On the other hand, the work done by staff to upgrade is quite a "thank you" gift in itself.

Some considerations in the event we do end up starting over...

Starting from scratch would be easier if we could be gifted with PS to recover whatever max skill levels we have when the changeover is initiated. Same with stats.

I was going to suggest one lg. bag of holding to each so they can take any 20 items over to the new home but then I'm probably being almost silly at that suggestion. Whether they can or cannot be transferred, perhaps that is a bit too much to ask staff when there is some much other work to do.

In any case if you can tally up anything of value and make offers in the new world to save some grinding perhaps, that could be of value.

If we were to eventually move to a new version (and this is still a big IF, with no quick decision being made), there would be no "right away". It will take months if not a year to program a new shard with the bulk of the content we now have. Until that is done, the new WP would not be open to players.

Unfortunately, moving items from the old to the new is not possible, though some incentive to old players might be given (and donation items possibly replaced).

The possibility of having 2 shards has also been brought up, but staffing concerns and the splitting of the player population make this impractical.

I think that the period between deciding to move and when the actual new, updated shard is ready will see a lot of people leave. Why would you continue to play for up to a year, just for all your efforts to be for naught?
If people were desperate for the new content, why have they come here instead of one of the other shards that currently have the update?
Maybe, if its decided to update, you shouldn't tell us

I like it here cause of the "small town" feel....which i guess small towns do have old buildings and roads with collections of items from eras before...and we can laugh at the fancy new folk from out of town who leave instantly.

I've probably played uo so much in my lifetime that the countless items earned and hours spent blur in my mind like ink in water...eventually its all colored with memories ill never lose. ~_~ good times...

change or not ill be here from time to time... havent been on much lately...playing castlevania sotn and fallout 3... two teeth got pulled x.x .... messing with lua crud and local uo stuffs and playing rose online whenever im on the desktop lol

maybe we could just "armageddon" the shard and keep the same old client with the same old runuo?

I totally agree but I personally would not (completely) leave in any case. Probably just spend a bit less time in WP but I have no plan to pack up and leave no matter what is decided.

Just a note on this logic (which is not bad, but just doesn't apply to all of course... nothing negative on Trebla here). I would have come to ANY UO shard, regardless of what version. For some of us I think it may be strictly about being in an environment that does not support griefers. I can even take PKs if they are done right and not simply out there to cause grief... BIG difference. So after the environment then comes the "what all can I do" and since UO comes with tons of stuff you can hardly lose... at least for a while. Then when you get a bit jaded or otherwise bored, it is always nice to have something new.

I'm guessing we can have some new stuff without going to more advanced versions so I'm still ok either way.

Its been almost a month now since we posed the question of our furture development. It was not our intention to scare anyone. WP was not going to just up and vanish.

You have given your input, and by more than 2 to 1 (as of 4-23-12) you have stated that you would like to see us continue with our current shard version, and that is what we will continue to do.
